Friday we went to San Francisco! I had been there before, but it was a first for Brian and of course the kids. It was warm in Folsom, around 80 when we left. It was WINDY that day in San Francisco and much colder than the weather reported.
We walked a bit on the Golden Gate Bridge, but it was too windy and cold to completely cross.
We drove down Lombard Street (the steep, winding road).
So we headed into the city and walked around the many different tourism shops. We considered riding the trolley, but there was a huge line and they wanted $5 per ride and we decided to skip the $20. Plus the kids couldn't join us.
The kids tried their first grilled cheese and chocolate shake at In-N-Out, YUM! Then it was time to head home.
The next day we went to the Folsom Zoo. It is a small rescue zoo with a lot of different animals, but being small it wasn't busy and the kids really enjoyed it.
We saw deer!
Maggie & cousin Bailey waiting for the train
We went on a fun train ride around the zoo
After the zoo we played for a little bit in the park.
Maggie loved swinging with her Papa
Jack in the tunnel, the only time I got a picture while he wasn't running away
Later after naps we had a BBQ and then ate popsicles and played in the water outside. Poor Jack was exhausted and napped through all the outside fun.
That night we were packed and ready to head home. BUT our flight was delayed about 3 hours so we ended up changing our flight to the following morning. Early morning! The flight home was quite different from the flight to CA. We said our goodbyes and were boarded in the plane immediately after going through security. This time around we didn't have an empty seat, in fact both flights (we had a short layover in Salt Lake) was full. On the first flight they slept almost the entire time. The second flight we weren't as lucky. They were both restless and just wanted to play. We made some walks to the bathroom and tried everything we could to keep them happy. Eventually we made it home, safe and sane! It was so good to be home, but I already miss my CA family. I don't know the next time we will have the chance to make it out there. It was a great trip, even with all the illness and unexpected trips to Urgent Care. Thank you to everyone in CA! We love you!!
