Jack's new big boy look

My little baby boy and his long curly locks are gone! We took him to Cookie Cutters today and he loved getting his haircut. He sat in the car, watched Thomas the Train, played with combs and flirted and smiled the whole time. He looks like such a big boy now, and although I loved his crazy hair look- it was definitely time.

Spaghetti night

Tonight the kids had their first spaghetti dinner!

Jack seemed to like it, but a lot of his ended up in his lap.

Maggie devoured her spaghetti, which was no surprise because she loves macaroni & cheese.

We've been working on the kids with weaning them off bottles, which hasn't been 100% successful, but they are down to 3 bottles a day. Which I call success! And since they are drinking Pediasure instead of actual formula, we can screw the bottle nipple straight to the Pediasure bottle. So...I got to pack up all their bottles which was awesome! It has been nice not cleaning and drying all the bottles and bottle parts, especially Maggie's bottles with the 4 parts plus bottle. Instead 3+ times a day I'm cleaning high chair seats, straps, trays and the floor. :)

Where's Daddy?

What happens when Mommy sleeps in...

13 Months Old!!

It's been a full month of being 1 year old, and Jack & Maggie are certainly learning the new life of being toddlers! They are into anything and everything! They both walk along and behind everything, and Maggie not only takes steps holding onto hands or fingers, she is also standing up on her own without holding onto anything. If she keeps going like this she will probably be walking by 14 months! Jack still doesn't have his balance down for standing, but I'm OK with one walking baby at a time. :) Maggie said her first sentence the other day. "Maggie taking a baaaath!" She says it when she is in the tub and she's also said it when getting ready for a bath. She also replies "yea" to certain things and consistently waves hi or bye. Jack is babbling tons now. Ba, Ma, Da and he has started saying "Dadda" to Brian. Maggie plays peek-a-boo with all sorts of objects and has learned where things "hide" and how to turn pages or flip flaps in books. If only her brother would stop chewing the book during story time! :) Both play "Find Mommy/Daddy!", chase and there own version of peek-a-boo together. They LOVE their tunnel! We're still working on sippy cups. After their last High Risk appointment we moved them from formula to Pediasure. They like it, but still aren't completely able to stop with bottles. Sleeping has improved, though recently they've been waking up earlier. I'm not sure how to work on this with them. I would let them be, except for when they do wake up early they are cranky and I can tell they could have used more sleep. Probably yet another phase or teething! :) Next week Granny is on vacation so we are planning a visit to the zoo and then Daddy is going to join us for a trip to the King's Island water park. Should be fun to enjoy the last days of summer getting out and about, especially as the heat starts to finally fade. It's been one HOT summer!

13 Months Old and eating their 1st chocolate chip cookie!

Maggie REALLY needed something inside the bin!

Grandma made us cute outfits!!

Quality morning time with Mommy

When Jack woke for his morning bottle this morning around 6am, he decided to stay awake and play. Maggie woke shortly after, but went back to sleep like normal. So Jack and I got to spend some quality time together. Then, for the first time in a long time, Jack stopped playing, quietly climbed into my lap and fell asleep. It was so sweet and a treat to get to cuddle with him like that.

Maggie is now up and she and I can enjoy some quality morning time until Jack gets up! :)

Popsicles are funny!

Jack thinks lime popsicles are hilarious! Maggie wasn't feeling well and just wanted her popsicle.

Where's Mommy?

I sit in the hallway and say "Where's Mommy?"...

Maggie "walking"

Where did I go?

I entered the life of toddlers, that's where! It has been crazy (and fun) around the Keller house in the last couple of weeks. They are every where and into everything! Neither are even thinking of walking (which is fine), but they are completely mobile with crawling, pros at climbing stairs and stepping around holding furniture, toys, walkers, etc. They play with their toys both independently and together and LOVE chasing me around where ever I go. And to make it even more challenging, they have both not been feeling well and especially clingy. Maggie started not feeling well a couple of days ago and Jack joined in last night. So even though it is already noon, it feels like it has been a LONG day. Enough complaining from mommy...they really are great kiddos. :)

At their 1 year pediatrician visit Maggie weighed 16 lbs 4 oz and Jack 17 lbs 11 oz; both were 26 inches long. Along with crawling and climbing they can walk holding onto things and Maggie is standing on her own for good amounts of time, but she doesn't really know she is doing anything special. Neither have shown any interest in taking actual steps and don't really care to hold onto hands to walk, though they do enjoy walking behind their walker toys. Their routine is getting a little better, they eat breakfast, lunch and dinner but are still getting most of their diet with bottles. We were able to switch them to the second step formula for toddlers, and the goal is to wean them from bottles in the next 2-3 months. They are still smaller for their age, so we want them to continue to get what they need for formula. Maggie can drink from a straw or sippy cup and loves milk. Jack has almost mastered a sippy cup, but doesn't get the straw concept. They have their good eating days and their not so good eating days. The past few days with fevers and not feeling well eating as been an exceptional challenge, but all in good time.

A big change for the kiddos after their Birthday festivities were over...they got their own rooms!
