Back in the swing of things

Fall seems to have arrived with Labor Day. We have had wonderfully cool weather and this is my favorite season! It also means we have been able to play outside without sweating miserably.

Eating snack in our playhouse outside

Hi Mama!

I make a great caddy

This morning after breakfast and getting dressed we took an impromptu trip to the zoo. It was in the low 60s, so donning our pants and jackets we enjoyed the time outside. We saw so many animals. Every time I've ever been to the zoo I've seen a very small amount of animals, I'm talking maybe like 2 or 3. We saw all sorts of animals, and active ones, not just the monkeys sleeping on the rocks. It was great! Hopefully this weather sticks around for some time (Cincinnati has a history of skipping Fall and heading straight into Winter) and we can enjoy more days outside!

Boots in the middle of summer?

Of course! Why not?

Toddler beds

While on vacation Maggie learned how to master climbing out of the pack-n-play, so it wasn't completely surprising to us when after 2 days of being home she climbed out of her crib. Off came the front and we bought the safety toddler bed rail.

Little did we know that "Jack of all trades" would out smart us and find a way to get hurt from the "safety" rail, but flying OVER it and onto the floor. So back to the store went the darn safety rail and away went the crib. Instead, a PRINCESS toddler bed!

A couple of days later after seeing Jack as excited about the big kid bed as Maggie, we returned to the store and got none other than a CAR toddler bed!

Nap and night time have been frustrating and exhausting on some days, but we are all slowly learning this new process. Maggie isn't fighting staying in her bed or room as much, Jack still thinks it is a game, but is getting better. Bed time at night has been pushed a half hour to 9pm, simply because I don't think they were fully tired at 8:30.

A couple of nights Maggie has gotten out of her room and quietly crossed the hall and climbed into our bed to sleep. A couple of mornings we have woken up to her in our bed as well. She is SO quiet about it! Jack stays in his bed throughout the whole night.

Niagara Falls

We went on vacation to Niagara-on-the-lake, Canada at the end of August. It was a wonderful vacation with Granny, Papa, Chrissy, Uncle Dan & Aunt Anne-Marie! We all stayed in a house on the lake, just outside the little town and had a great time. Jack & Maggie enjoyed getting pretty much free run of the house, which was very big and allowed for lots of, well, running!

Including stopping for lunch, gas and a quick diaper change, it only took us 8 hours to get there.

Only Mickey Mouse Clubhouse would do on this trip- meaning "M-I-C-K-E-Y" is engraved in my brain for all eternity!

Maggie slept some of the drive

Jack didn't sleep at all!

We went swimming in the big pool, that the kids had NO FEAR about

My laid back little Jack

All wrapped up

Daddy & Mommy got to enjoy some wine tasting with Chrissy, Aunt Anne-Marie & Uncle Dan while Papa & Granny enjoyed their grand kids

The beautiful sunset each night

Family

Niagara Falls!

Granny's only wish for the trip was to go on Maid of the Mist

Maggie slept through it

Jack ate goldfish crackers and tolerated the blue tarp

Rainbow

Double rainbow...do you see it?

The drive home was a little bit longer, but it didn't help that we were stuck in line at customs for an hour. Granny ended driving up our Accord the day after we all left (bit of an issue involving her passport expiration) so Brian and I each drove separate home, since we had rented a car. The drive is a perfect distance for us and we love going to Canada, I think it is a definite family vacation spot for years to come!
