Pumpkin Pickin' 2011

This past weekend we tried out a new pumpkin patch. Sometimes new is fun and exciting, sometimes same old is better. We learned our lesson with this pumpkin patch...

Granny joined us for the fun and we were all ready for our hayride, petting zoo, pumpkin pickin' and maybe a treat. When we pulled into the place, I think we were all thinking the same thing..."this is it?"

The petting zoo consisted of two piglets fighting over a pumpkin, some old hobbled goats and a dead bird.

Within the petting zoo area was a wood play set, the best I've seen yet! Every time we find a play set it always seems to have openings at the top before you go down the slide. With two small children, it is very hard to comfortably let them play on something that I constantly fear they will fall out of. This play set was all closed once you went up the steps, SMART! They loved it and went down the slide over and over!

Of course he still goes down on his belly

Going for another round

Jack was sliding down so fast he would land with a thud on his belly. Sure enough he would get up, laugh and run off to go for another round! It wasn't until we got home that we learned he was scraping his belly up something good, but it must not have mattered because he had a blast.

After playing we went over to our hayride. It was a full ride with other families and the kids seemed to really enjoy the experience.

The "farmer" drove us into a field and stopped. He then said for those that came to get pumpkins to head on out and we would set off in a few minutes. This is what we saw when he stopped:

Seriously that was the pumpkin patch. So we got off the truck and wandered out to the field to get our very own pumpkins.

Daddy picked out a couple of bigger pumpkins from the loaded truck in the middle of the field

After our great pumpkin adventure we wandered through the store and I bought some blackberry preserves which is mighty tasty. Then it was time to load up and head home. All in all it wasn't a terrible trip, but for the cost and experience, I think we'll find another pumpkin patch next year.

The pretty fall scene with our pumpkins!

Riding the rides

Winter?

Nope, not quite yet. It is fall around here though so I went through the drawers and cleared out the summer clothes to make way for the fall/winter clothes. Little did I know that this week we would be back in the 80s...of course!

Maggie found a sun hat and mittens, which seemed like the perfect accessory to wear with her pjs while reading a nice book.

Preemie clothes second life

I saved some of Jack & Maggie's preemie onesies to donate to the NICU. The other night Maggie wanted baby Carol to put on pjs too, so...

Ugh- the never ending finger prints on the oven door!

Mmmm, cupcakes

A couple of weekends ago we ventured out to the Lebanon Apple Fest and of course stopped in at Manna Cupcake. The owner, Marguerite, was our primary NICU nurse and in addition to taking wonderful care of Jack & Maggie, she makes some awesome tasting cupcakes!

Jack gave Marguerite a big hug and let her show him off around the bakery. Of course Maggie was her shy self and clung to Mama. Both kiddos devoured their mini cupcakes though! Mmmm, they are really yummy.

Maggie's World

A glimpse into what Maggie sees through the lens of a camera:

Dada

This is a self portrait of sorts. We have a love/hate relationship with this thing!

This is Blue, Maggie gave him that name. And yes, Blue is male. She also has a pink care bear appropriately named Pink, who is female.

Smiley brother Jack, which she pronounces Jacque *insert French accent*

Mama!

I'm thinking Christmas will have a kid friendly camera under the tree for miss Maggie.
