The pool is open!

We bought the kiddies a pool and this weekend was surely hot enough to enjoy some water fun!

We also traded in the "big" highchairs for compact ones that sit in our existing dining room table chairs. They like being lower to the ground to see Wilma and I like how much easier they are to keep clean.

This past weekend was nice having Brian home so much. Especially since the babies have been "teething" and quite cranky most of the day. Jack has his pre-op physical tomorrow and then his surgery Friday. The poor guy won't be allowed baths or pool time for a little while, but he should heal quickly and there should be minimal pain. He'll definitely be getting some extra hugs and kisses this coming weekend!

King's Island

We went to King's Island yesterday and we decided to get season passes since the park is so close and with the kids we can spend a lot of fun summer days there. So we met up with friends for a fun early evening out. The kids had a blast! Jack was very content just riding along in his stroller seat and although Maggie wanted to be held, she had a lot of fun too. Next time we're going to take her carrier and I think she will be content riding around on her Daddy's back. The kids rode their first amusement park ride, saw tons and tons of people and had a great time!

Holy Blowout!

Today was a good day at the Keller home. The kids woke up in great moods. We took Jack to the pediatrician early in the day because he had a rash that had spread and we just wanted to rule out all was OK. The doctor checked him over and he is fine, looks like he just has something viral passing through. He is in much better spirits today, which is great because I missed my happy little guy. The kiddos took a long nap after a nice walk through the neighborhood. Once they woke up we got ready and went to Granny & Gramps house. During the drive, Jack played with his seat strap and Maggie sang and babbled. When we arrived...we discovered what was keeping Maggie so occupied. Without exaggeration, her diaper completely missed it's job. From the side corner poop seeped out. Somewhere during the drive Maggie must have reached down and come up with a nice handful. By the time we arrived she had wiped it around her legs, arms and face!!! It was really disgusting! I managed to get her out of her seat, but not in time to miss watching her start wiping her face with her "dirty" hand. I immediately took her upstairs to a bath where she of course was more than excited. Meanwhile Brian cleaned out her filthy car seat. All is well now and they are enjoying a nice sleepover with Gramps and Granny.

Brian and I just enjoyed a nice meal at home and now we are drinking some delicious red wine and watching Gone with the Wind. An evening at home together. So far, even with the blowout event of 2010, it's been a fabulous weekend!

This past week Jack has not been feeling well. We happened to be at Children's for a High Risk follow-up Tuesday, so he was looked over. He is healthy, so it seems his teeth are bothering him now. The poor guy has just been so unhappy, but with some Tylenol and sleep he seems to be feeling better. He has been sleeping A LOT, so possibly growing as well. Meanwhile, Maggie has been enjoying a lot of one-on-one time with Mommy. While at High Risk the doctor's noticed that the kids' growth has slowed down, so they've been increased to 26 calorie formula. Additionally, Jack's height isn't matching with his weight, so he is getting whey protein with his formula to hopefully stimulate his height growth. Watch out world, Jack might be a body builder soon!

The munchkins are no longer my little babies, but independent and spirited kids. It seems they learn something new everyday and although they are twins, they've certainly developed their own unique personalities.

My 1st Mother's Day!

I enjoyed a nice Mother's Day at home with my family. Along with my 1st Mother's Day came the babies' 1st tooth! They both have a little fang poking through on the bottom row and I'm looking forward to seeing their toothless grin (which I absolutely love) transform into a single tooth grin. Unfortunately the tooth coming in has also meant quite the fussiness in our house the past week or so. Jack is now rolling everywhere along with Maggie. Both have started pulling themselves up into a crawling position, and Jack has figured out how to scoot forward on his bottom. Each of their personalities have really come out, especially when they interact with one another and other kids. We've been hanging out with the Vine family a couple of houses down the street. They have the cutest kids, Audra and Deigan. Jack and Maggie have really opened up to them and especially Jack lights up when they walk up to him and say "Hi baby!". It is so cute! Hard to believe- this was a year ago today!

The kids and Brian had these gorgeous roses and yummy candy delivered to me for Mother's Day!

I made hummingbird cake for dinner with Brian's parents. Yummy!

I love having twins!

While at Sam's Club today we had a very interesting encounter. We were walking through the cleaning supplies aisle, the kids were both being very well behaved and we were just enjoying a nice afternoon out as a family.

Passerby: "Are they twins?"
Me: "Yes." with a smile
Passerby: "I'm sorry."
Me: just a look of shock
Passerby: "It will get easier."
Me: "Oh, it already is. We love it!"
Passerby: "Oh, then you must have a lot of help."
Me: "Yeah..." and I turned the aisle

Seriously?! Where do people come up with this stuff? Didn't we all learn in elementary school "Think before you speak" and "If you don't have anything nice to say, then don't say anything at all."? Oh well. I love having twins! I can't imagine my life without having two babies. I say this after buying $200 something worth of formula that will only last me a week, holding Jack for the 3rd time while he screamed and refused to go to bed and exhausting myself with Maggie who screamed uncontrollably for most of the day. I say this because I get to watch them squeal in delight at one another as they jump together, laugh at one another as they splash in the bathtub, grunt and pull at one another as they play in the living room and look up at me with gorgeous blue eyes that always seem to say "WE LOVE YOU MOMMY!". Having twins is not double the trouble, it is double the fun!
